So I was looking at my post about how Apple has posted a WWDC “banner” so to speak on their front page. This made the think about the possibility of what could come out of WWDC, obviously we might see some new products, but WWDC is after all, about the software and the “Developers, Developers, Developers.” However, a thought passed through my mind. What if we see or hear about 10.6 =-o The thought absolutely blew me away, well sure it would be an appropriate TIME FRAME, since Apple usually releases updates each year. However, I just don’t think OS X or its customers are READY for 10.6
Sure, Apple could stick with the normal, major upgrade every year thing (except when they skipped in 06′ because of iPhone), but it wouldn’t be wise. When Apple followed this “update every year” pattern, the current OS was up to like 10._.9 or so! Leopard on the other hand is only at 10.5.2 and its users are gasping for the fresh air that 10.5.3 will hopefully provide (whenever it comes).
If I were to put Leopard on a “stability” grading scale It’d receive a C (no pluses or minuses on this grading scale only letters). The reason being because it’s just not 100% stable like Tiger is. Tiger, in my personal opinion, is one of the most stable operating systems ever. Now, Leopard is on the path to getting there, but its just not there yet. Because, as much as I hate to admit it, Leopard still has issues with programs stalling or ever worse the dreadful Kernel Panic.
So, just to wrap it all up, sure it’d be really cool to see what Apple has in store for OS X, but the operating system is just not ready. However, i would like to see some software updates for Leopard overall, iWeb, iTunes, and almost every other app!
